Called Berezka Dance, the dancers appear to glide over the stage by taking little steps. The floating effect has been the trademark of this dance group since it was founded in 1948 by Nadezhda Nadezhdina. Totally mesmerizing. According to Nadezhdina, “Not even all our dancers can do it. You have to move in very small steps on very low half‐toe with the body held in a certain corresponding position".
If you watch this next video you’ll get a glimpse of the step they are doing. The women can hide their steps by wearing long flowing gowns. The man can’t. Try it for just a minute. Not so easy.
