Take a Break: Celebrate Mardi Gras via Krewe of House Floats

Mardi Gras is Feb. 16 but sadly no parades or celebrations in New Orleans. But wait, Krewe of House Floats to the rescue.

This new Krewe (pronounced crew), the organizations that put on the parades and balls for Mardi Gras, has inspired thousands of people in New Orleans and around the world to decorate their homes just like the Mardi Gras floats that would normally be parading in the streets of the Big Easy.

If  you live in or around New Orleans, download the map and visit the various houses that are decorated like Mardi Gras floats and collect your beads and trinkets.

For the rest of us, we can enjoy the pictures and videos of the “floats” online at Facebook Twitter and KHF Instagram.

There is still time to decorate your house for Mardi Gras. Check out the following video to make the large flowers that decorate the floats.
