This week I made sure to stay awake to watch Amy Tan: Unintended Memoir on American Experience. She’s one of my favorite writers-“Joy Luck Club” and was one of the first people to step forward regarding her struggles with Lyme Disease. Tan was one of the original “Rock Bottom Remainders” a group of authors that formed a rock-n-roll band. So much fun to see her outfitted with a whip in one hand and decked out in full leather and wigs.
The film itself was incredible, and it turns out to have been the last project of the film maker James Redford. It’s a spell binding hour and 39 minutes, and can be seen on-line or your local PBS station.
And if you never saw the Remainders, here’s their Covid version of Stand by Me and features Tan, and so many well known writers, including Stephen King.
