With Halloween items already appearing in stores, there is still a month of summer left. If you're on vacation or just have some time to browse the tag sales, flea markets and other sources of "treasure," it's a good time to think about affordable gift giving.
The idea of a “blind date” with a book has been around for a while. Very popular at craft fairs and book stores, the book is wrapped in brown paper with tiny hints about what’s inside. This same idea can be used with a craft kit or art supplies, a puzzle. game or anything else you think would be appropriate for a friend or family member.
Start checking tag sales, thrift stores and discount bins for the right book, gently used craft and art supplies puzzles, games or anything else that can be easily wrapped. Make sure all the puzzle and games pieces are in place before purchasing.

Think it would be fun to do a cook book and wrap it in a dish cloth, and put in things like measuring spoons, hot pad, spice packets etc. in the folds. For the artist on your list, a small canvas wrapped with items such as colored pencils, paints, brushes would be fun. As for the puzzlers and gamers pick up a pair of “cheater” reading glasses at the Dollar Store, along with favorite candy bar and other items they may use.
