Take a Break: Bee Inspired-Honey

September is honey month. So today’s “take a break” is about bees, honey, beeswax etc.

Find local honey and taste it: If you aren’t sure where you can find it, go to your local health food store or farmer’s market and ask for help. You want a good quality honey that has not been processed with a lot of other ingredients.

Learn about honey: From it’s health benefits to being a natural sweetener, The National Honey Board website has lots of interesting information.

Save the Bee: Since the late 1990’s, beekeepers around the world have noticed a decline in bees and beehives. Learn more about how you can help at SOS Bees

Make your own skin products with honey: Known for it’s skin and wound healing properties, try making some skin care products with honey.

Beeswax: From lip balm to Christmas Tree ornaments, there are a multitude of things you can make with beeswax. Check out Beeswax Recipes

Color a honey Mandala: Coloring is a very relaxing activity. Try one of the following:

Beeswax Cookie Cutter Candles: This is a very cool project.

Honeycomb Jewelry: Hex nuts are six sided, so try some of the hex nut suggestions in July’s Take a Break: Make Jewelry from Hardware.
