Take a Break: Check Out Fun-A-Day

A Baltimore friend regularly posts about her “Fun-A-Day” project. Originally created by the Artclash Collective,  a Philadelphia-based group of artists who organize art projects and shows that aim to be fun, inclusive and participatory, Fun-a-Day starts January 1st. The idea is to pick a project, do it every day in January and show your work in a group show the following month.

If you find yourself saying, “but I’m not an artist” and/or “we’re past January 1,” it doesn’t matter. Check out the various links below to see what people are doing and be inspired. The video series from Lansdale Fun A Day Art Show 2013 gives a good idea how diverse the ideas people have. You’ll see that some people are using this as an opportunity to do more with Instagram, Photoshop, write a poem, work on a song or even search for a particular item for a collection.

Since many people don’t have access to a local Fun A Day, there is now an on-line option.

To help inspire your own Fun-A-Day, which you can do for any period of time, and not just January, check out the following links: Pittsburgh Baltimore Boston

I started my own Fun A Day project centered on Steampunk. Very fun and engaging. Just wait for next week’s post.
