Take a Break: Make Bubble Wands and Have Fun

It’s finally spring and being outside is such a joy after the many months of heavy snow and temps below 0. So what better way to celebrate than with bubbles? Sure you probably have plenty of ideas, but at the moment this has a lot of appeal to me.

Simple directions for making wands: Pipe cleaners (Fuzzy Sticks) or wire can be shaped into a heart, star, circle or whatever strikes your fancy. I made a bunch of these for Easter, adding various beads to the stem. Check out Bubble Wands from About Parenting for lots of different wands.

Making Bubble Wands has clear instructions for wire and beaded wands. Along with some homemade bubble mix, this would make a fun Mother’s Day gift.

Bubble Recipes: There are lots of homemade recipes for bubbles. One of the more popular-used by children and science museums is
-       ½ cup Ultra Dawn
-       ½ gallon warm water
-       1 Tablespoon glycerin or white Karo syrup.

Mix gently and skim foam off the top.

Check out Soapbubble Wikia for all kinds of Bubble Juice recipes including ones that make giant bubbles.
