Take a Break: Make a Giving Plate


The idea is simple-take an inexpensive large plate or platter and decorate it so that the receiver knows it’s a “Giving Plate.” Fill it with cookies or a special treat-depending on what you use the food item will probably need to be wrapped separately-and give it to someone who can use a lift. They in turn will then refill it and pass it on.

The message can be as simple as “The Giving Plate” Enjoy, Refill, Pass. Share the love.” Or it can be a verse,

“This plate shall have no owner for its journey never ends,
It travels in a circle of our family and friends.
It carries love from home to home for everyone to share,
The food that’s placed upon it was made with love and care.
So please enjoy what’s on the plate
Then fill it up again,
Then pass along the love it holds to your family and friends.”

There are a variety of ways to make the plate including decorating a white plate from the Dollar Store or thrift store with Sharpies. Below are two videos showing different techniques:
