Take a Break: Tangrams

A tangram is a geometric puzzle with 5 triangles, 1 square, and 1 parallelogram. These pieces are arranged to create various objects. This is an ancient game, originating in China. Learn more about the history of tangrams

Download puzzle pieces and try some of the images from the Museum of Play. Create a set of puzzle pieces for your refrigerator or other magnetic surfaces by:
-       • Printing and cutting out the puzzle pieces;
-       • Use as templates, trace and cut shapes from paint chips, card stock, cardboard or other stiff material;
-       • Adhere magnetic stripping. If you can find the sheets of magnetic stripping wide enough, cut out the various designs and paint different colors.

This would make a fun present for some one who is home bound or in the hospital. A cookie sheet from the Dollar Store will be an inexpensive playing space. Be sure to download lots of patterns.
