At various festivals I attend with my husband,
who is a fiddler, I watch the adults spend as much time at the “putty table” as
the kids. There is something satisfying about watching the putty drip through
your fingers. It’s a very simple recipe-equal parts cornstarch and water.
But
what if you substituted water with your favorite lotion? Ahhh, now you have
stress relieving putty (or clay). It’s very simple-
• To a cup of cornstarch add
3-4 oz of your favorite lotion
• Knead the dough until smooth.
• You can add a
drop or two of food color-I tend to use the Wilton dyes-or a drop of essential
oil. The latter isn’t a good idea if you use scented lotion.
If you find your putty too sticky add just a little more
Cornstarch. If you find your putty a bit too doughy add a small squirt of
lotion. This putty should feel soft and smooth. Perfect for molding,
stretching, playing, thinking and relaxing. Keep in an airtight container for
long-term storage.
