Once again it’s time to use the last weeks of summer to start creating items for the holidays. In fact, this is the 13th one I’ve done, and links are provided to the previous 12.
Scraps of paper, fabric, wall paper, wood, candles or some other medium can be turned into gifts that families and friends will appreciate. Below are a bunch of ideas to consider:
• Fabric/Wallpaper Switch Plate
• Fabric Scrap projects
- Bowls
• Wooden Table Runner/Trivet: Have an old Jenga set that’s missing a lot of the blocks, make a trivet or even a table runner.
• Candles: Yes they can be melted down and turned into fire starters as well as poured into interesting old tea cups, mason jars etc. to Did you know you can paint on candles?
- Use a clean cloth to wipe your candles with rubbing alcohol. This will remove lint and debris for a smooth surface. Use paint markers or craft paint to draw a series of dots, flowers and patterns. Work on one side and let it dry completely before moving to another side.
- Dip Dye Candles Take plain taper candles and dip them in a mixture of colored crayon shavings and melted candle wax. Use painter's tape for a more even dye job or embrace the unexpected and dip as you please.
• Accordion Paper Flowers and Leaves : Small scraps of paper can be turned into amazing flowers and leaves, perfect for decorating packages.
